We've made some updates to the Calendar and Events listings for the New York Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers.  Please check it out and let us know if you have any items to add....lectures, tours, exhibits related to the world of books in the New York area.  Let us know if you will be teaching or exhibiting or hosting an open studio and we will add it to the calendar! The first event of the new year that we are looking forward to opens this Thursday at RARE, Glen Horowitz Booksellers' gallery for artist books.

Sjoerd Hofstra with Karen O'hearn: Books in Motion

Exhibition Dates: January 14-January 30, 2016 Opening Reception: Thursday, January 14th, 6–8 pm

We are pleased to present the beautiful and ingenious pop-up books of Brooklyn-based artists Sjoerd Hofstra and Karen O'hearn. Not devised for children, these sophisticated editions—meditations on architecture, nature, geometry, and design, among other subjects—combine intricately engineered moving parts with original texts and images to produce wonderfully engaging and thoughtful modernist volumes—all constructed individually by hand, and visually arresting in both form and function. The full range of the pair's collaborative canon will be on display in the gallery, including two new limited edition pop-ups created especially for this exhibition. Dimensional wall pieces and process material that expand upon their bibliographical techniques will also be on view.
